The rights and gifts have been exclusively acquired by Happy Productions, the masterpiece of Samuel De Hunter directed by Dadakarides Pygmalion. The actor will, in fact, keep the main role.
For the needs of the show, he transforms himself with the photos impressing the audience as they try to premiere at the NEW Academy.
The play, originally written in 2012 for the theatre, has been successfully presented in the world’s biggest cities. In 2022, Darren Aronofsky brought it to the cinema, receiving rave reviews and several awards.
Pygmalion Dadakaridis – The origin of the work
Charlie, a self-destructive, morbidly obese English teacher, who has lost all contact with the outside world, as well as all desire to continue living, “sinfully” in time waiting to be redeemed from life itself. He struggles to come to terms with his estranged daughter and his own past.
The Whale pushes you to find your humanity in characters who are neither good nor bad, with rich and complex inner lives. They have all made mistakes, but they share a desire to love even when others seem unable to.
It is a story that asks the essential question: can we save each other? This is important today, especially when people seem to be turning away from their neighbors.
