THE HILL reported on the 30th (local time) that Rep. Andy Kim, the first Korean-American U.S. senator, said he was concerned that the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021 would be covered up.

Senator Kim appeared on CNN on the 29th and looked back on the Capitol riot, the 4th anniversary of which was approaching. “It was an incident that everyone around the world saw for themselves. “There is this idea that such incidents will be covered up, that it is wrong to convict prisoners while glorifying those who attacked the Capitol as liberators,” he said.

He emphasized, “It is sad that such a thing is happening in this country governed by the rule of law.”

There has been speculation that US President-elect Donald Trump will pardon the Capitol rioters once he takes office.

Trump has also pledged to retaliate against political opponents, including members of the House of Representatives’ special committee investigating the Capitol riot.

Senator Kim said, “This country is a great country. Still, something sad happened that day. We must prevent something like that from happening again. But unfortunately, many people think differently,” he said.
