After their demonstration in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) on November 22, which caused huge traffic jams for motorists, all the farmers of Occitanie are mobilizing this Tuesday, January 16 in the Pink City. Nearly 400 tractors and 2,000 farmers planned to demonstrate in the city as far as the Place du Capitole to express their fed up. They denounce access to water, trade agreements creating unfair competition, unrealistic European directives, the suffering of breeders in the face of diseases and the difficulty of renewing generations.

Mirror clauses

“Despite our numerous requests in recent months, we have not been heard by the public authorities while there are multiple concerns such as the increase in water fees and the price of agricultural diesel,” explains Laura Serres, president of the FDSEA of Haute-Garonne. We also denounce mirror clauses such as the importation of foodstuffs grown according to specifications other than ours. There is also a lack of state aid for epizootic hemorrhagic disease affecting cattle. »

Farmers from the thirteen departments of the region will be present in this event which will reach Toulouse city center via the Jardin des Plantes, the Grand-Rond, the Allées Jean-Jaurès then the Capitole. The convoy must use the ring road but the farmers do not anticipate a blockage like in November. The Toulouse town hall filed a complaint at the beginning of December following this agricultural mobilization which had caused thousands of euros in damage.

The agricultural unions must be received by the regional prefect this Tuesday afternoon.
