CHENNAI ∙ The Anna Nagar Tower Park, where the villain character of the super hit Malayalam film ‘Nadotikatti’ became ‘Pavanai Shavmai’, is reopening after a decade. The entry to the tower was banned 12 years ago after some people jumped down from the tower and committed suicide following the example of Pawanai. Installation of grill on all floors has been completed to avoid accidents. It is decided to open within 10 days after completion of some other works.

In the movie, the fight between Mohanlal, Srinivasan and Captain Raju and the fall of Captain Raju’s character Pawanai was shot in the tower of Anna Nagar Park. The tower has 12 floors.
One of the main attractions of the city, the tower and the surrounding park were visited by many visitors. But the entry was banned in 2011 after lovers and others jumped down from the tower and committed suicide. So far, people are being admitted only in the park. The tower, renovated at a cost of Rs 30 lakh, has installed grills on all floors to ensure complete security. The walls are decorated with paintings reflecting the culture of Tamil Nadu.
