Chief Minister Stalin, who released a book written by DMK treasurer DR Balu and participated in the ceremony, praised DR Balu as the person who built Thanganarkara road for Tamil Nadu. Reacting strongly to this, Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai has issued a statement saying that the Golden Quadrilateral Road project was brought by the BJP government.

Chief Minister Stalin, who participated in the book release function of former Union Minister DR Balu’s book “Patha Mara Yatra”, while referring to the author of the book, mentioned that DR Balu was the one who built the Golden Quadrilateral Road.
It is clear that his habit has not changed yet, where others credit all his achievements to his intellect.
The world famous Golden Quadrilateral Project was the dream project of His Majesty, Former Prime Minister Vajpayee. The date of commencement of this scheme is the sixth day of January 1999 (06.01.1999).
Similarly, it was Mr. B.C.Ganduri who started the quadrilateral highway project in Tamil Nadu. He was the Minister of Highways from 7.11.2000 to 22.05.2004.

Mr. DR Balu’s tenure as Minister of Highways was from 22.05.2004 to 22.05.2009. So in July 2013, this project was fully completed. So how can someone who was a minister in between without beginning and ending, claim this project as his personal achievement.
I don’t know how they claim all the achievements of BJP as their achievements. The greatest achievement of Mr. DR Balu was the significant collection of forced collections from the contractors in the Golden Quadrilateral project.
While the Chief Minister was speaking, he suddenly burst out laughing, saying, “If the Sethu Samudra project had been completed, there would have been an increase in industry in Tamil Nadu, as if Aunty had grown a moustache.”
Setu Samudra Project was spearheaded by DR Balu. But the Chief Minister complained that it was the BJP that stopped it. The public should first understand about Setu Samudra Project.
The soil has to be scooped up from the deep sea area where the sandbars are too large for large ships to navigate and dumped in the same sea at the deepest part.
It is impossible to find out how much work has been done by taking soil from the sea and throwing it into the sea. It is true that DR Balu tried to enrich himself and his organization through this project which costs 900 crore rupees per year.
When Karunanidhi tried to implement the project anyway, there was a fierce competition between DR Balu, a member of the artist’s family, to get the sand mining contract.
Even if this plan is implemented, only one ship can pass through it at a time. Just like the useless one-way bridges built by M. K. Stalin when he was the mayor of Chennai, the Sethu Samudra project is a one-way passage for ships.
Due to the nature of sea sanding in that area, the sand runs out after the ship passes, so after every ship pass, sanding has to be done every time. Sand mining costs many crores.
So perhaps if this plan is implemented, there will be a wonderful opportunity for DR Balu and DMK to achieve many benefits.
If Setu Samudra Project had been completed, a port would have been built there and the sea trade would have been paid, he calculates the present day development of the port in a dream state.
