Annual inflation in Latvia – as in Cyprus – was 1.6% in September. The lowest inflation last month was registered in Lithuania (0.4%), Slovenia and Italy (0.7% in both countries), Luxembourg (0.8%) and Finland (1%).

On the other hand, the highest annual inflation was in Romania (4.8%), Belgium (4.3%), Poland (4.2%), the Netherlands (3.3%) and Estonia (3.2%).

In September, consumer prices increased year-on-year in all EU member states, except Ireland, where they remained unchanged.

In the EU, the average annual inflation was 2.1% in September, while it was 1.7% in the Eurozone.

On the other hand, compared to the previous month – August – consumer prices decreased by 0.1% in September both in the EU and in the Eurozone.

In Latvia – as in Slovenia – compared to August, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in September. Monthly deflation was registered in 15 EU member states, the highest was in France (-1.3%), while the highest monthly inflation was recorded in Greece (+1.8%). In Lithuania – as in Romania – consumer prices increased by 0.4% on a monthly basis, but in Estonia – as in Hungary – they decreased by 0.3%.

“Eurostat” inflation is calculated according to the EU harmonized index of consumer goods (HICP).
