19 senior political leaders of the country’s three major parties have been awarded Graduation Certificates by Democracy International for successfully completing the Senior Leader Fellowship Program (SLFP) organized to enhance leadership and political skills.

Presidents and general secretaries of eight districts of Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party participated in this high-quality fellowship program held recently under USAID’s Strengthening Political Landscape project.

Incidentally, this is the ninth batch to complete Democracy International’s Multi-Party High Level Training (SLFP). The program serves as an educational platform for senior leaders from various political parties to explore and bring together thoughts on political issues of public importance.

This fellowship program inculcates a sense of camaraderie among leaders and pledges to inculcate and uphold the values ​​of mutual tolerance and camaraderie among themselves through team learning.

Graduating fellows have received intensive training and fieldwork in a variety of topics including the role of political parties in democracy, internal party democracy, campaign management, electoral processes, and the inclusion of women in politics. So far 220 senior leaders from three parties have completed this SLFP graduation.

In the concluding remarks, Dana L. Olds, Chief of Party, SPL Project of Democracy International, said that this is a special batch because the presidents and general secretaries of the three political parties of the district participated in this batch who are the main leaders of their respective districts.

He hopes that after this fellowship program they will continue the process of positive change in their district. He also hoped that the participants would take initiatives for the empowerment of women and youth and continue the good relations developed from the training.
