Another Boeing plane loses a fuselage part

by time news

Another part of the fuselage came loose during a United Airlines flight with a Boeing aircraft. This time it was a Boeing 737-800 that lost cover yesterday Friday on the route from California to Oregon. There was already a breakdown with a Boeing 737 Max on an Alaska Air flight in January: Shortly after takeoff, part of the fuselage around the right rear door was torn out. There was a hole at that point, the machine had to turn around, but no one was injured.

Apparently no one was hurt this time either, as a spokeswoman for the airport said. The fact that a cover was missing on the lower part of the fuselage was only noticed after the plane had landed safely and as planned. The airline assured that it would thoroughly examine the aircraft and “carry out any necessary repairs before returning it to service.” Boeing itself has not yet commented on the incident.

Since the incident in January, Boeing has been under massive pressure because the defects appear to be due to increasing cost pressure and a lack of quality assurance. Now the US traffic safety authority NTSB has also sharply criticized the aircraft manufacturer and airlines such as United Airlines are increasingly looking for alternatives, for example with the European manufacturer Airbus.
