Anseong City has been promoting the “Anseong City Geumbukmaek National Ecological and Cultural Trail Creation Project” since 2020, which connects Anseong City Geumbukmaek Ecological Forest Trail and Access Road and Geumgwang Lake, which are rich in natural, historical, and cultural resources and have beautiful scenery, and will be launched in early October this year. All processes were completed and the completion ceremony was successfully held on October 8th.
At the completion ceremony on this day, about 100 people, including Anseong Mayor Kim Bora, Anseong City Council Chairman Ahn Jung-yeol, provincial council members, city council members, local organizations, social groups, and local residents, as well as the chairman of the National Park Service, which is the trustee of this project, attended to celebrate the completion ceremony. In order to promote this project, Anseong City signed a consignment agreement with the National Park Service, a public institution under the Ministry of Environment that has managed Korea’s national parks at the highest level for 37 years. Based on the Corporation’s accumulated trail creation and management capabilities and know-how, Anseong City We carried out all aspects of the Geumbukjeong National Ecological and Cultural Trail, from basic planning to design, construction, and operation management. In the meantime, there have been cases where the National Park Service has been entrusted and promoted only part of the ‘Ministry of Environment’s National Ecological Trail Creation Project’ by several local governments, but Anseong City is the first case where the entire field has been entrusted and promoted by the Corporation.
The recently completed ‘Anseong City Geumbuk Vein National Ecological and Cultural Trail Creation Project’ was divided into a total of 3 projects and was promoted as the ‘Geumbuk Vein Ecological Trail Maintenance Construction’, one of the 13 veins in Korea, and the base for the Geumbuk Vein Trail. The ‘Geumbukjeongmaeong Vessel Visitor Information Center Construction’, which will serve the role, and the ‘Geumgwang Lake Sky Observatory and Sky Trail Construction’, which will be linked to the Geumbukjeongmaeong and allow for a panoramic view of the natural scenery of Geumgwang Lake and the Geumbukmaejeon ridge section.
Of these, the height is 25m. The ‘Geumgwang Lake Sky Observatory and Sky Trail’, which is 167m long, and the ‘Geumbukmaek Vein Ecological Trail’ from Chiljangsan Mountain, the starting point of Geumbuk Vein, to Yeopdonjae, were completed first and partially opened in September. The number of visitors is continuously increasing.
With the completion of the Geumbukjeongmaekjeong Information Center this year, information on natural, historical, and cultural resources within the Geumbukmaekjeong section of Anseong City will be provided and information on natural, historical, and cultural resources will be provided. By creating an additional parking lot, there will be space to solve the initially limited parking problem. The Geumbukmaejeon Visitor Information Center, Geumgwang Lake Sky Observatory, and Sky Trail are located close to the Geumgwang Lake Park Dujinmunhak-gil parking lot (824-3 Ohheung-ri, Geumgwang-myeon), so you can easily explore them by searching for them.
