Called “Neptune VI”, this international operation, carried out in cooperation with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and Europol, took place in several countries, including Morocco. It made it possible to strengthen security along the maritime routes of the Mediterranean, as well as at airports and at the land borders of the participating countries.

According to Interpol, the two-week operation focused on identifying and analyzing the movements of foreign terrorist fighters and individuals with ties to terrorism, as well as criminal groups responsible for cross-border crimes such as drug trafficking, arms smuggling and human trafficking.

Throughout this operation, stolen vehicles and lost or stolen passports, essential to facilitating the financing and mobility of terrorists, were also identified, the organization added.

At the end of “Neptune VI”, twelve million pieces of data had been cross-referenced and a dozen of the most wanted individuals by Interpol had been arrested, in addition to 54 other people wanted by the authorities of certain countries for crimes related to drugs and fraud, as well as the smuggling of gold, silver and weapons.

This security operation also gave rise to significant seizures, including 549,000 undeclared euros, quantities of gold worth 10 million euros, 25 kilograms of cannabis, 35 stolen vehicles and several rifles and ammunition. .
