Apple Unveils New Macs with M-series Chips: iMac, MacBook Pro 14, and MacBook Pro 16

In a somewhat low-stakes Apple event held on the evening before Halloween, the tech giant introduced a new generation of M-series chips, showcasing its commitment to innovation. While the new Macs may not be radically different from their predecessors, they come with exciting updates and improvements.

The $1,299 iMac is proof that Apple hasn’t forgotten about its all-in-one desktop lineup, even though the hopes for a new 27-inch model were dashed. The new iMac features the M3 processor and is available in seven vibrant colors. It comes with an eight-core GPU, eight-core CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Customers can also opt for a 10-core GPU configuration starting at $1,499. The base model includes two Thunderbolt/USB-4 ports, while the higher-priced model offers an additional pair of USB-3 ports. Both configurations now support Wi-Fi 6E.

For MacBook enthusiasts, there are two exciting additions to the lineup. The new $1,599 MacBook Pro 14 with M3 chip brings back the beloved ports that were missing in previous models, making it more accessible to users. It serves as a replacement for the outdated MacBook Pro 13 with the M2 chip and the infamous Touch Bar. The MacBook Pro 14 can be preordered now from Apple, Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo, with an expected arrival date of November 7th.

Apple has also upgraded the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Both laptops now come with M3 Pro chips as the base configuration and can be configured with the higher-end M3 Max chip. The design and port layout remain similar to the previous M1 Pro models introduced in 2021. The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999, while the 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,499. Preorders for both models are now available at various retailers, including Apple, Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo.

All of these new Macs are set to be released in November, with most of them arriving on November 7th. It remains to be seen whether these small improvements are worthwhile, but consumers who want to be at the forefront can preorder now.

Apple has also announced that additional preorder links from more retailers have been added, providing customers with more options to secure their new Macs.
