Apple Vision Pro may become cheaper

According to the latest TrendForce report, global shipments of VR and MR headsets are expected to increase 8.8% year-over-year in 2024, reaching approximately 9.6 million units.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, this growth reflects three key trends in the industry: the dominance of low-cost devices, the transition from entertainment accessories to productivity tools and the emergence of OLEDoS as the preferred display technology.

“Apple Vision Pro has become an example of how virtual reality and MR technologies can move beyond traditional entertainment and become multifunctional productivity tools. This paradigm shift is expected to encourage other brands to reconsider the functionality of their devices,” the company said.

Despite low sales figures for high-end devices, Vision Pro has set a new standard in the industry to meet user expectations for VR/MR. It is also the first device to feature OLEDoS display technology, which sets a new standard in terms of product performance and picture quality.

Apple, with its expertise in hardware development, will be a key driver in the adoption and diversification of virtual reality and MR applications. The company is expected to launch its next generation of VR/MR devices as early as 2026, with two different models targeting both the high-end and mass segments.

The high-end model is likely to use OLEDoS technology with a resolution of over 3000 dpi, delivering exceptional picture quality. The core model will focus on affordability and cost-effectiveness for price-sensitive consumers, with display options including glass-based OLEDs and LCDs with LTPO backplane technology. This dual strategy will allow Apple to strengthen its influence in the global virtual reality and MR technologies market.
