This Monday it will start in the Senate the parliamentary process to discuss and approve the constitutional modifications sent by the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, on substantive equality and which proposes the reform of six articles of the Constitution, as well as seven laws.

Furthermore, it eliminates consecutive re-election in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, as well as in state congresses, but maintains it for municipal authorities.
It states that “the Constitutions of the states must establish consecutive re-election for the same position of municipal presidencies, councilors and receiverships, for an additional period, as long as the term of office of the city councils does not exceed three years.”
In addition, it establishes the mechanisms to eliminate the gender pay gap; and proposes that the State, in addition to guaranteeing the exercise of the right to substantive equality, must reinforce measures to protect women, adolescents, girls and boys.
And that, in the case of adoption of an infant, working women will have the right to a six-week leave, counted from their receipt.
