The presenter and his talk show are repeatedly criticized. Now ARD has fine-tuned its talk program – with consequences for Louis Klamroth.
For over 20 years, Frank Plasberg was the face of “Hart aber fair” and welcomed guests from politics, business and society to the ARD talk. At the beginning of 2023, the show returned after the winter break with Louis Klamroth as the new presenter. In January of this year, the 34-year-old replaced his predecessor as producer and gave the format a different concept.
In the summer, the broadcaster announced how “Hard but Fair” and Louis Klamroth’s role had been decided. Although they will continue to stick to the talk show, they want to develop a “new, changed constellation of the ARD talk show” for 2025, it said in an ARD statement. Details were not initially given. Now it is clear: the innovations have consequences for Klamroth.
As “Medieninsider” reports, “Hart aber fair” will only be broadcast 20 instead of 30 times next year. This means the number of issues is reduced by a third. At the request of the industry magazine, the ARD program management confirmed that the linear number of episodes of the format would be reduced in 2025 compared to the previous year.
But another talker gets more airtime: Sandra Maischberger. She had already taken over Monday evenings in spring 2024 when “Hart aber fair” went into the Easter break. “Maischberger” ran for three weeks on the Klamroth slot and achieved good viewership.
In 2025, the journalist could also be seen three times a week instead of twice. According to “Medieninsider” the number of Sandra Maischberger’s episodes will not be 58 as listed in the original production contract, but 67. This was also confirmed by ARD.
Louis Klamroth, on the other hand, should help pursue another goal of the station outside of linear television. “In the future, the non-linear offerings should become even more of a focus of the overall concept of the talk shows. It should be even more successful in bringing the political discourse to younger target groups,” it said in the summer. Several formats are now being developed with Louis Klamroth, who is already presenting the digital offshoot “Hart aber fair to go” in the ARD media library.
