Sports presenter Esther Sedlaczek appears with her father on social media. It’s a rare appearance. The two had no contact for a long time.
Esther Sedlaczek guards her private life; the ARD presenter rarely provides insights. But now she has appeared on her Instagram channel with a family member: her father Sven Martinek. In the pictures that the actor also posted on his profile, they are holding each other in their arms and have broad smiles on their faces.
Esther Sedlaczek’s father is a public figure just like her: The now 60-year-old began his career in the film industry over 40 years ago. Among other things, he had engagements in productions such as “Notruf Hafenkante”, “Großstadtrevier”, “Tatort”, “Polizeiruf 110”, “SOKO Rhein-Main” and “Der Clown”.
Esther Sedlaczek only met her father when she was 16. She grew up as an only child with her mother in Berlin. She reveals the reason why she met so late in the format “My Story”: “Because he never took the step toward me. By the way, I can understand that very well. […] There was just a lot of respect on his part that he can’t just show up in my life and claim that he’s ready to be there now – so I have to be ready too.” She grew up without a father Something was missing, she admitted.
She finally approached him and wrote him a letter. And her father called her. “It was a totally surreal moment,” remembers Esther Sedlaczek. Six half-siblings came into her life with him. Today she says: “Things don’t always go perfectly and the way I have my father in my life now is honestly something really nice. Because we have a really great friendship and we get along really well.”
