Argentan Dental Hub Plans Abandoned for Former Espace Xavier-Rousseau Building
A planned dental center in Argentan, Orne, will not move forward after the prospective buyer withdrew from a purchase agreement with the municipality. The decision impacts the future of the former Espace Xavier-Rousseau building, a 500 square meter property with an 800 square meter lot located in the town center. in July 2025, the Argentan municipal council approved the sale of the property, situated between the Post Office and the Marché square, to a local dentist who envisioned a multi-practice facility potentially housing six to eight practices. However,in November 2025,the dentist informed city officials of a change of plans and ultimately declined to purchase the space, effectively ending the planned dental hub.
The withdrawal of the buyer leaves the future of the building uncertain. The Espace Xavier-Rousseau building had been envisioned as a solution to growing demand for dental services in the region. A senior official stated that the city is now exploring choice options for the property, including seeking a new buyer or repurposing the building for a different community need. The city is actively considering all possibilities to ensure the prime location benefits the community.
