In an interview at Figarothe president of Arianespace takes stock of Ariane 5’s career and calls on Europeans to stay united around Ariane 6.

LE FIGARO. – The last launch of Ariane 5, which was to take off on Friday, has been postponed for several days. Why ?

Stephane ISRAEL. – During the final preparations for the launch, a technical alert appeared on a critical function of the launcher. This function is redundant, but our standards, which made Ariane 5 reliable, are clear: we are not taking off. Arianespace has postponed the transfer to the launch pad. It is still too early to announce a new date. We are working on it. What matters is to succeed in this last launch, like the previous ones.

How will this mission be emblematic?

This 117e mission, in twenty-seven years of career, is emblematic in several respects.
