Armenia has effectively frozen its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

As Day.Az reported on Tuesday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in an interview with the Greek newspaper Kathimerini.

“The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), in our assessment, has not fulfilled its security obligations to the Republic of Armenia, especially in the period 2021-2022. The practical result (of this CSTO policy) is that we have actually frozen our participation in organization,” he said.

Pashinyan noted that as of September 2023, Armenia does not have a permanent representative in the CSTO.

“We do not participate in CSTO negotiations at a high and senior level. However, we do not block CSTO decisions, but we also do not participate in them,” he added.

Let us note that Pashinyan previously announced his intention to leave the CSTO in the absence of answers to Yerevan’s questions. According to him, the organization “must fulfill its obligations and recognize its area of responsibility.”
