Puebla Governor Pushes for Expanded Healthcare Education Access

Puebla, Mexico – Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier has called for an expansion of healthcare-related programs at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), aiming to provide more opportunities for young people to pursue careers in medicine and nursing.
During his address at the recent Specialized Citizen consultation Forum for the 2024-2030 State Development Plan (PED), armenta emphasized education as a key pillar of his governance and expressed his unwavering support for the BUAP.
“I want to thank the rector of the BUAP because with her, there is a central issue that has to do with medicine. I have asked her to multiply the spaces for young people who want to study Medicine and Nursing so that they are not left frustrated, and she is going to do it,” Armenta stated.
The governor confirmed that the BUAP is open to increasing enrollment in its Faculty of Medicine, while the government will simultaneously work on building additional campuses for the Universidad de la Salud del Estado de Puebla (USEP), including one in Yaonáhuac, Sierra Norte.
Furthermore, Armenta highlighted the federal government’s initiative to establish a campus of the universidad Rosario Castellanos in eloxochitlán, Sierra Negra, a marginalized region, to make higher education more accessible to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.Armenta expressed confidence that the 2024-2030 PED will propel Puebla into the top ten states nationally.
