Due to the current topics of modern specialties in everyday life and the urgent need for personnel in the field of information and telecommunication security, the Technical University – Sofia is actively developing partnerships with leading companies at the national and European level. These partnerships include improving the material base, organizing events with guest speakers, trainings and conferences. And above all, this active interaction creates specialists, engineers who define important technological trends in the near future.
With the development of computer systems, information technology and telecommunication networks from a technological problem cyber security becomes important and integral part of modern life both in state structures and in business and the activities of various organizations. The telecommunications infrastructure is also under increasing threat of cyberattacks, which necessitates the need for qualified personnel in the field of telecommunications and information security.
The main problem today is the shortage of highly qualified footage in these areas. To answer this problem, the Technical University – Sofia, which is a leader in the field of engineering sciences, together with the faculties of computer systems and technologies and of telecommunications, offers solutions by creating new specialties in the field of cyber security that meet the needs of the market in the country and at the European level.
As a leader in the professional direction 5.3 “Communication and computer technology” with the highest accreditation and rating assessment in TU-Sofiain 2022 were introduced two new specialties:
• “Cyber Security” – a bachelor’s program with 4 years of full-time study.
Students study foundational as well as innovative and current technological disciplines in the field of cyber security and telecommunications. The curriculum has been developed jointly with the Faculty of Telecommunications, and the training is led by specialists from both faculties. The practical exercises are held in modernly equipped laboratories with the latest technologies, and the lectures are held in modern and interactive halls.
The program is attracting significant interest from prospective students across the country. In them candidates enter with the highest success.
Every year around 150 students get the chance to train and realize as cyber security engineers.
• “Cyber security and cybercrime prevention” – full-time master’s program.
This specialty offers one-year training for graduates of the OCS “Bachelor” or OCS “Master” in the fields of technical sciences, mathematics, informatics and computer sciences, as well as two-year training for graduates of the OCS “Bachelor” or “Master” in the fields of “Law”, ” Security and Defense”.
The Technical University – Sofia offers more sought-after disciplines: quantum communications and quantum cybersecurity, as well as blockchain technologies.
