The 11th round of the Winner Handball League, which closes the first round, was signed today (Friday), at Moked – Hapoel Ashdod and AS Ramat Hasharon found themselves behind in the away games in Kiryat Ono and Ness Ziona, respectively, but knew how to rise in the final minutes and win. The four teams that won are also the first four at the end of the first round, which will start only in the quarterfinals of the National Cup (in the quarterfinals next Friday, the teams that finished in 5th-12th places will play – the draw will be held on Sunday). The league will now be divided into two houses – the top and the bottom. The points from the first round are accumulated, and there will be two rounds and 10 rounds until the end of the regular season.
AK Ness Ziona – AS Ramat Hasharon 30:26
Ness Ziona, as in previous games against the top teams, started excellently and led 3: 6. Ramat Hasharon returned, but two consecutive goals by Jan Gorla and Aviv Leifer raised Ness Ziona to 8:12 (with great ability in Tal Eliukhin’s goal). Ramat Hasharon started the second half great, with Lior Kaplan entering the goal and providing 3 stops. A pair of goals by Hershkovitz and Pavlovich closed the gap and set 14:14. It happens again to Kiryat Ono. She started great, leading by 4 goals during the second half as well, but as against Ramat Hasharon last week, she lost her strength. Ashdod was bitten to a goal at the entrance for the last ten minutes. Ono still went up to 25:27, but Ashdod in a 2: 7 run closed the story and completed a ninth victory in a row, since the loss in the opening round to Holon.
Maccabi Rishon LeZion – Maccabi Dimona 27:37
The champion returns forever, after an uncomfortable period in terms of result and losses to Ramat Hasharon and Ashdod. Maccabi Dimona still gave a fight in the first half, despite the lack of goalkeeper Thomas Valenta and Yotam Tal who did not feel well. In the second half, Maccabi Rishon LeZion rose purposefully, and increased the advantage on the way to victory.
Hapoel Rishon LeZion – MK Beer Sheva 24:34
Hapoel Rishon LeZion closes a round in third place, but it was completely unstable and ends sweet with the victories over Dimona and Beer Sheva, which on the other hand records the 11th loss and is the only one in the league that did not score a single point. Erel Zeitler led Hapoel with 6 goals ‘Vazivan Pasic’ added 5 each.
MK Holon – Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin 29:33
Holon finishes a great round, where with a little more luck she could have found herself in the first quartet. Motzkin is doing its thing, after the stated initial goal was to survive in the league. Eilot gets her sixth point, which gives her some air in the battle for survival, but she completely missed a win after dropping her advantage in the closing minutes. She saw Herzliya achieve an equalizer that divided the points. Herzliya finishes a round that is all instability with 10 points, but in a good position for the sequel and its current goal to qualify from the bottom house to the top playoffs.
