The young Indian hockey team not only won a bronze medal at the Asian Cup of Hockey in Jakarta, Indonesia from May 23 to June 1, but also qualified for next year’s World Cup in India.
Mariswaran from Kovilpatti and Karthi from Ariyalur, who studied at a special sports club in Kovilpatti after 13 years in the Indian hockey team, were selected from Tamil Nadu and played for the Indian team.
