Birmingham: India’s Asintha Ciuli won gold in the 73kg weightlifting category at the Commonwealth Games. This is India’s 3rd gold medal in the Commonwealth Games.
The 22nd season of the Commonwealth Games is being held in Birmingham, England. Asintha Ciuli represented India in men’s weightlifting 73 kg category.
Asinda, who lifted a maximum of 143 kg in the ‘Snatch’ category, achieved a maximum of 170 kg in the ‘Clean and Jerk’ category. He lifted a total of 313 kg and won gold with a new record at the Commonwealth Games.
This is India’s 3rd Commonwealth Games gold. It is noteworthy that India’s Jeremy Lalrinnunga won gold in the 63 kg weightlifting category while Meerabai Janu won the first gold. At the end of the 3rd day, the Indian team won a total of 6 medals, 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
