According to media reports, at least 13 people died in a passenger boat accident in central Vietnam. The ship with 39 people on board capsized in adverse weather conditions on Saturday afternoon around three kilometers from a beach in Quang Nam province, the news portal “VnExpress” reported. 34 people were recovered, 13 of them died. Five other people are still missing, including two children.

The boat was on its way from the Cham Islands to the coast. More than ten boats with hundreds of helpers, including fishermen and border guards, searched for the missing persons in an area of three square kilometers. Due to the darkness, the rescue work was temporarily stopped in the late afternoon. There was initially no information on the exact cause of the accident.
