A 43-year-old passenger in an OPEL car, traveling to Belarus from Poland through the Brest checkpoint, hid about 42 thousand US dollars in equivalent from customs control.

The woman, a citizen of Ukraine, along with the driver and two other passengers of this car chose the “red” corridor to cross the border in order to declare goods. However, there was no declaration about the funds moved by passengers in the declarations.

During the control, Brest customs officers found money in the passenger’s personal belongings, as well as in the structural niches of the car (between the driver and passenger seats, under the “sun visor”).

A criminal case was opened on the fact of intentional unlawful acts in accordance with Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the materials of which were sent to the court.

In 2023, Brest customs alone identified 200 cases of illegal movement of cash across the Belarusian-Polish border for a total amount of about 1.3 million US dollars in equivalent.
