Bowy Monterroso, a Guatemalan drummer who has spent his career in London, and his band of musicians called Bowy and his friends are ready to launch the long-awaited second season from his miniseries «The Meme Session Vol. 2».

This unique project promises to take audiences on a musical journey filled with nostalgia, humor, and the very essence of Internet culture.

The second season consists of two live sessions in which seventeen songs are performed in medley form, inspired by both the iconic television series “Sponge Bob Square Pants” like in the beloved Dreamworks movie «Shrek».

In the first season they released the first four episodes and with volume 2 they present two chapters, diving even further into the vast world of memes and online culture, innovatively reinterpreting melodies and songs that have left their mark on the minds of millions. of people around the world.

About the making of The Meme Session Vol. 2

To make this audiovisual production, Bowy Monterroso and the band’s talented musicians recorded and produced the songs in three different locations in England: Fiction Studios, The Lodge at Monks Rest and Holy Trinity Church.

Among the musicians who made this production possible are Latin American, English and European talents:

Bowy Monterroso (drummer), Duncan McTaggart (piano), Tin Whistle (ukulele), Jannik Petersmann (acoustic and electric guitar), Valentina Ske Ferrero and Dale Taylor (vocals) and Robyn Matthews (bass and harp).

Nathan Cooper, André “Iggy” Mieles, Adam Dean and Luis Pedro Aguilar also participated.

The Meme Session Vol. 1 (the first season) was born as a result of the Guatemalan drummer’s degree project, his taste for memes led him to think about this project that no one had tried before and he finally decided to carry it out with his friends from University.

The premiere of “The Meme Session Vol. 2” will be a special event where you can see both episodes before their release. This will take place next Saturday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Cinema Bistro in the Fontabella shopping center, located on 4a. Avenida 12-59 Zone 10 of Guatemala City.

Bowy and his friends is a collective of musicians led by the talented Guatemalan drummer, Bowy Monterroso.

A graduate of the University of East London in London, England, Bowy not only has experience in playing drums, but also in teaching, teaching students of all ages.

Throughout his career he has recorded 2 EPs, a full-length album and several singles with London and Guatemalan artists. His repertoire includes original music from different genres, such as pop, rock, blues and jazz.
