According to NRW Interior Minister Reul, a large darknet platform for child pornography content has been shut down. The number of users on the site was in the hundreds of thousands.
During investigations against suspected backers of a Darknet platform for child pornography content, investigators secured extensive evidence. The investigators said a total of 1,517 exhibits such as laptops and cell phones were found. The seized DVDs and video cassettes alone filled 94 moving boxes. The exact amount of data cannot currently be estimated. A volume of 13.5 terabytes of data had to be evaluated on the accused’s computer alone – that corresponds to around 3.4 million photos.
There were searches in six federal states in September. In North Rhine-Westphalia, according to information from security circles, there were searches in Minden and Neuss. The investigators also struck in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein. Six suspects were taken into custody.
