Avianca Cargo announced that it was the winner of the ESG Award at the Aviation Achievement Awards 2024 for the company’s commitment to sustainability. According to the company, this award was thanks to “the implementation and development of different initiatives on environmental, social and governance fronts; among them operating the Airbus 330F, the medium-sized freighter with the least environmental impact based in the region“.
Likewise, the company highlighted other initiatives it has carried out in terms of sustainability, such as its 10-year track record of implementing fuel saving policies focused on reducing CO2 emissions. He also reported that last year, in alliance with Ecoventura, he transported around 12,000 kilograms of waste such as cardboard, paper and glass for free from the Galapagos Islands to Guayaquil so that they could be recycled..
Avianca Cargo also highlighted the signing of the alliance with the Best Buddies Colombia Foundation to support the labor inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. He also highlighted the alliance with Airlink, the same that has allowed the mobilization of humanitarian cargo such as Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.
Finally, they mentioned the internal sustainability contest that was named Sustainable CargoLab so that collaborators could compete by presenting innovative ideas that contribute to environmental impact before a panel of juries. These initiatives, according to the company, would be implemented in 2024.
