On October 14, Rospotrebnadzor and the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a joint round table “Assessing the risks of food safety and quality.” The event took place at the Federal Scientific Center for Hygiene named after. F.F. Erisman Rospotrebnadzor.
As Day.Az reports with reference to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, the round table was the first practical step in the implementation of the Agreement on cooperation in the field of food safety, concluded by the departments during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Republic of Azerbaijan in August of this year.
“During the round table, Rospotrebnadzor presented Russian scientific and practical approaches to ensuring food safety. Among the main topics: control of contaminant and pesticide residues, preventing the spread of antimicrobial resistance and laboratory testing.
The issues of supervision of the circulation of goods subject to mandatory labeling by means of identification and regulation of the safety of drinking and bottled water are also covered in the Russian Federation.
The Russian experience aroused significant interest among Azerbaijani partners, who, in turn, shared approaches to ensuring food safety and risk management in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The organization of the round table is the result of the fruitful work of the two departments and confirmation of the mutual desire of Russia and Azerbaijan to increase cooperation in the field of ensuring food safety,” the statement said.
