Bad actors? An EA patent will change the difficulty level automatically

by time news

Electronic Arts (Electronic Arts) thinks about the players who have difficulty in games and a patent it registered called “Automatic recommendation system for control configuration” has now been officially recognized. This is a system for identifying the game pattern that accordingly changes the level of difficulty and helps control the game.

The description of the patent filed by EA two years ago states that “based on the input of the control controller, the user profile and the reliability” the system will make adjustments to different parts of the game that can “change the settings of the controller and improve the performance of the user in relation to the software”. It can be assumed that it will offer the improvement in the performance of the players, starting with mechanisms such as Aim Assist, changing the level of difficulty in the various elements of the game, and ending with a real change in the control scheme using the game controller.

This is not a completely new idea and in fact back in the 1980s the shooting game Zanac was known for a similar system called Automatic Level of Difficulty Control which measured the aggressiveness of the player and according to his performance presented more or less enemies on the screen. In modern games, developers have often spoken about the implementation of similar systems and the most simplistic form of this is one that recommends the player to lower the difficulty level if he is frequently disqualified.

The latter is especially important as it can make games accessible not only to less experienced players but also to those with disabilities to finish their favorite game.
