BOLZANO. The warning bulletin, in anticipation of the storms announced in Alto Adige in the next few hours, will be yellow for Tuesday and orange for Wednesday. This was confirmed by the director of the Provincial Functional Center Office, Willigis Gallmetzer.

“During today’s evaluation conference of the Civil Protection Agency we decided to raise the civil protection status from Zero-Normal to Alpha Alarm, so that the authorities and the population are informed in advance”, explains the director of the Klaus Unterweger Agency. Meteorologist Günther Geier predicts rainfall, from 30 to 60 millimeters per square meter, which will affect the whole of Alto Adige, being particularly intense on the southern slopes of Ultimo, Val Passiria, Racines, Ridanna, Bassa Atesina and the Sesto Dolomites.

“The forecasted bad weather will lead to an increase in water levels in the main rivers and tributaries during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday – explains Stefan Ghetta, of the Hydrology and Dams Office – with peaks expected in the early hours of Wednesday morning. It is expected that the water levels of the Isarco rivers in Bressanone and Chiusa and of the Adige, in Bassa Atesina, reach the alarm levels and may even exceed them”.

Geologist Claudia Strada, from the Geology and Material Testing Office, underlined that landslides could only occur in the following days, due to the damp soil caused by the rain. The Provincial Roads Office and the Mountain Basin Planning Office are ready to employ staff.
