At least 40 people have been killed after a container filled with chemicals exploded in Sitagunda, Bangladesh. 450 people were seriously injured.
The container suddenly exploded in a chemical warehouse about 40 km from Chittagong, Bangladesh’s most important seaport. The accident is said to have been caused by a chemical in the island.
Of these, 40 who were working in the warehouse were burnt to death. More than 450 people have been hospitalized with burns. Bangladesh police have registered a case and are investigating the container fire that broke out. The incident, which took place in the main port, has alarmed Bangladeshi security officials.
