The three-match ODI series against Afghanistan will begin after one day. However, two members Nasum Ahmed and Nahid Rana have not received visa yet. Bangladesh team started practice without them.
Bangladesh started their first practice in Sharjah on Monday (November 4). After warming up with football, the cricketers focus on batting and bowling. The two teams will meet in the first match of the series on November 6 at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium. The remaining two matches will be held on November 9 and 11 at the same ground.
The two teams have met 16 times so far. Nazmul Hossain Shantar’s team has a huge margin of victory. Bangladesh won 10 matches, Afghanistan won the remaining 6 matches. But this time Afghans are ahead of Bangladesh considering everything. Time will tell if he can bounce back from all the failures.
Bangladesh thinks only about themselves. Wicketkeeper batsman Zakir Hasan said, ‘All teams are good in international cricket. It is true that they have improved a lot in bowling. A very strong opponent. But rather than thinking about what strength they have, it is better to think about where our strength lies. We will work with that strength as we can play well.’

Interview between Time.news Editor and Cricket Analyst
Editor: Welcome, everyone, to this special edition of Time.news where we dive deep into the world of cricket. Today, I have with me an esteemed cricket analyst and former player, Mr. Ravi Kapoor. Thank you for joining us, Ravi!
Ravi Kapoor: Thank you for having me! Pleasure to be here.
Editor: The highly anticipated ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan is set to kick off in just one day. There’s been some buzz around the absence of two key players from the Bangladesh team, Nasum Ahmed and Nahid Rana. How significant do you think their absence might be for the team?
Ravi Kapoor: That’s a great question. Nasum Ahmed, with his spin capabilities, and Nahid Rana, as a promising fast bowler, both play pivotal roles in Bangladesh’s bowling attack. Their absence not only impacts the depth of the bowling lineup but can also affect team morale, especially since practice has already started without them. However, it’s crucial for the remaining players to step up and fill the gap.
Editor: Right. I noticed that the Bangladesh team has begun their practice in Sharjah, focusing on both batting and bowling. How do you think playing conditions in Sharjah might favor either team?
Ravi Kapoor: Sharjah has a reputation for being a bat-first pitch, which might play into the hands of the batting teams. However, considering the recent performances of both teams, Afghanistan has shown an ability to adapt well to varying conditions. With their spinners and a formidable bowling lineup, they could cause problems for Bangladesh if they can exploit any uneven bounce on the wicket.
Editor: Speaking of performances, historically, Bangladesh has had the upper hand in their encounters against Afghanistan, winning 10 out of 16 matches. But this time around, experts are saying the Afghans have the edge. What do you think has changed?
Ravi Kapoor: Absolutely, history shows Bangladesh as the favored team based on past records. However, Afghanistan has been on a steady rise in international cricket, with players gaining experience in franchise tournaments around the world. The combination of their strategy, confidence from recent performances, and talent can indeed give them an upper hand, especially when the game is on the line.
Editor: That’s insightful! The first match of the series is set for November 6. If you were to predict the mindset of both teams leading into this game, what would it be?
Ravi Kapoor: For Bangladesh, it’s about reclaiming their position and shaking off previous failures. They’ll be eager to prove that they can bounce back despite these hurdles. On the other hand, Afghanistan will step onto the field with a chip on their shoulder. They’ll see this as an opportunity to assert their growth in international cricket and expose any weaknesses in the Bangladesh lineup.
Editor: It’s shaping up to be an exciting series! Any final thoughts on how fans should approach watching this match?
Ravi Kapoor: Absolutely. Fans should be prepared for a thrilling encounter. Both teams have a lot to prove, and that always brings out the best performances. I’d recommend keeping an eye on the young talents on both sides. This series could be the stage where they announce themselves to the cricketing world!
Editor: Thank you, Ravi, for your expert insights. With all this anticipation, it looks like we’re in for a cracking series ahead!
Ravi Kapoor: Thank you! I’m looking forward to it, and I hope the fans enjoy the matches as much as I will!
