Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona stayed on course for success in La Liga before the cracking duel with Bayern Munich. The Catalans celebrated their ninth win in their tenth league game on Sunday evening with a 5-1 (3-0) win against Sevilla FC and thus maintained their lead in the table. Robert Lewandowski was able to celebrate once again before meeting Munich again in the Champions League on Wednesday (9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).
The Pole put Barça in the lead with a converted penalty kick (24th) and increased it to 3-0 a little later (39th) – his eleven and twelve goals of the season. Pedri (28th) had previously extended the lead after a counterattack. In the final phase, Pablo Torre added (82’/88′), Stanis Idumbo (87′) scored the guests’ goal.
Barça slowed down after the break and conserved their energy. In the 83rd minute, Flick, who will face his former club in the home game against Munich, brought on the recently injured top talent Gavi. The 20-year-old was back in the Spanish league leaders’ squad for the first time after suffering a knee injury in November 2023.
