BCB is thinking of making it mandatory to play in the national league

The country’s cricket board has made it mandatory for cricketers to participate in the domestic tournament Ranji Trophy if the national team does not play in India. Now the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is also going to walk that way. The Cricket Board is thinking of making the National Cricket League (NCL) mandatory with utmost importance.

The 26th National Cricket League is going to go up tomorrow from Saturday. Before that, BCB Director Nazmul Abedin Fahim said such thoughts in a press conference on Friday. According to him, this should be the only benchmark for getting a call to the national team.

‘No it (participation) is very important. Those who will be available not only need to be in touch to make the game competitive. It is necessary for that and it is also necessary to make the game competitive. If we give importance to NCL, if we take it as a benchmark for selection, then it seems that everyone will be forced to come here to some extent.’

National team star cricketers are reluctant to participate in tournaments like NCL. Many people don’t want to play here even if they have the opportunity. Fahim talks about creating a culture where everyone is forced to play.

“I think this culture needs to be built, not played here. This will not happen if we have a concession mentality. It’s not about pleasing everyone. Some may be unhappy. But a system needs to be established. That everyone will be forced to accept.’

Not only the cricketers, the same rule will apply to the board as well. Before this, there was some kind of reluctance among the officials about these tournaments. This time, Fahim also said about monitoring from the field from BCB. Not only that, they are also thinking that the coach of the national team should also watch the NCL.

‘But we will give great importance. For so long it has been said from outside that this is the most important place for cricket. From our side we will emphasize. The biggest thing is that we will try to stay on the field. I will go to the field and feel what is really happening.’

All in all, the board wants this four-day tournament to become a standard. So that the cricketers also look forward to playing here. The board is thinking of making NCL such a competitive tournament. Mental health system is also being kept for cricketers in NCL this time.

Fahim said, ‘The cricket board has a psychologist. Who comes as needed, works at HP. Regular National League coach-captains will have many sessions online with him. The idea is how to play competitive cricket, how can we instill that culture here.’
