The virologist Melanie Brinkmann (47) insults paediatricians just because they have a different attitude to the mask requirement in schools.
Occasion: Pediatricians are calling for the mask requirement to be relaxed, at least for the youngest – and more and more federal states are implementing this.
Chancellery advisor Brinkmann told the Rheinische Post: “Given the high number of non-vaccinated people, including children, I consider this decision to be premature – and, to be honest, quite stupid.”
The fact is: Doctors have the well-being of children and young people in mind, Brinkmann (Helmholtz Center for Infection Research in Braunschweig) conducts research in the laboratory. Pediatricians are concerned about the physical and emotional strain on the weakest in society, Brinkmann is a supporter of the failed no-Covid strategy.

Thomas Fischbach (62), head of the Association of Pediatricians, on BILD: “I am amazed at Ms. Brinkmann’s style. To declare us paediatricians and the President of the German Medical Association to be ‘stupid’ is outrageous. ”And it is overbearing, because Brinkmann’s view is“ purely virological ”.
The pediatrician continues: “WE experience the consequences of this scare tactic every day in practice. Children are disturbed and start crying. I can’t even look in the mouth for some children because they get scared and fight back. ”
Such statements are also stressful for older adolescents, because they are in an important phase in their personal development. Fischbach: “But that’s probably not an issue for virologists.”
Fischbach appeals to adults: “Adults are more infectious than children, so adults should please get vaccinated!”
