The reduction of fossil fuels and the mobilization of industrial players are emerging as an essential priority in the context of the energy transition, noted Ms. Benali, noting that the implementation of the national energy transition strategy will have a significant impact on the trade balance. by reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

To effectively support this transition, it is imperative to mobilize key players, manufacturers and researchers to provide solid scientific and technical support, she explained.

And to highlight the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition, and the need for an integrated and sustainable approach which constitutes an essential criterion for the success of the transition of the national economy towards renewable practices, in accordance with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Ms. Benali further stressed that the projects carried out have demonstrated their effectiveness in improving various aspects such as the business climate, industrialization, and scientific research, noting that these initiatives have also strengthened Morocco’s position in the fight against climate change.

For his part, the president of the National Federation of Electricity, Electronics and Renewable Energies (FENELEC), Ali El Harti, considered that it is imperative to take decarbonization measures today, ” as the future cost of inaction will be considerably higher than that of current decarbonization, with electricity price projections reaching up to 10 dirham cents per kilowatt hour.”

Mr. El Harti thus mentioned the wind and solar capacities available in Morocco which offer an important investment lever to highlight to foreign and particularly European investors, which could significantly contribute to the transition towards more energy sources. durable.

“It is crucial to strengthen Moroccan expertise in this area to capitalize on promising market opportunities,” he said, noting that half of Africans do not have access to electricity, hence the importance of strengthening the adoption of renewable energies with the aim of creating a significant social and economic impact at the national and then continental level.

Mr. El Harti also considered that Morocco is now experiencing a revolution in the telecommunications sector, thus opening new opportunities for the development of sustainable and innovative solutions, adding that the progress made in the field of renewable energies in Morocco are notable despite the crises, testifying to the effectiveness of government strategies and the commitment to a more sustainable future.

This event follows the establishment of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism of the European Union, applying to various sectors such as automobiles, parachemicals, electricity, fertilizers, agri-food. and textiles and clothing. It highlights the challenges and opportunities of decarbonization in Morocco and the progress made, with a view to future stages.
