The Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union wishes a happy birthday to Greece for March 25, with a video in which the Ambassador of Greece to Belgium, Sofia Grammata, explains exactly what Greece is celebrating, as well as the ties between the two countries.

“Today is a great day for us Greeks in Belgium. On March 25th we celebrate the national holiday of Greece. Both in Greece, but it is also celebrated by the Greeks who live abroad” says Ms. Grammata.
He notes that “the day of Greece’s national holiday was the start of the Greek revolution against the Ottoman Empire. This war ended with the independent Greek state. Do you know when? In 1830. The same year in which the Belgians became independent. The fact that we reached this achievement together, I think we should celebrate that.”
