Beo String Quartet to Redefine Chamber Music at Concord City Auditorium

A dynamic ensemble is bringing a fresh perspective to classical music, with the Beo String Quartet set to perform a matinee concert on Saturday, January 31 at 2 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium as part of the Concord Community Concerts Association’s (CCCA) 95th season.

The CCCA is committed to accessible arts programming, offering individual tickets for $20 and season memberships for five concerts at $65 – a value of $13 per concert. Students 18 and under are admitted free of charge, a testament to the organization’s dedication to fostering a love of music in younger generations.

A Genre-Defying Ensemble

Founded in 2015, the Beo String Quartet has quickly established itself as a force in the chamber music world. The group distinguishes itself by seamlessly blending “impeccable classical technique with bold contemporary innovation,” incorporating elements like electronics and spatial audio into their performances. This approach, according to promotional materials, aims to create experiences that appeal to both seasoned classical music enthusiasts and those new to the genre.

With a repertoire boasting over 65 world premieres and collaborations with acclaimed composers such as Missy Mazzoli and Richard Danielpour, the Beo String Quartet is actively “redefining what a string quartet can be.” Beyond the concert hall, the quartet has demonstrated a commitment to education, reaching more than 3,500 students through their outreach programs. The group’s name, meaning “to make happy,” reflects their mission to connect with audiences on a deeply emotional level.

Expanding Access Through Youth Outreach

This year, the CCCA has significantly expanded its youth outreach initiatives, increasing performances in local schools from one to two, thanks to funding from the Abigail B. and Timothy Walker Lecture Fund. The Beo String Quartet, alongside the duo “Linday & Jason” (violin and piano), will offer students unique opportunities to engage directly with world-class musicians.

These performances will take place at Merrimack Valley High School and Bow High School, bringing the experience of live chamber music directly to students who may not be able to attend concerts at the Concord City Auditorium. In addition, eleven high schools will receive complimentary tickets to distribute to their students, further broadening access to the arts.

CCCA’s 95th Season Continues

The CCCA’s 95th season features a diverse lineup of performances. Following the Beo String Quartet’s January concert, “Linday & Jason” will take the stage on March 7 at 7:30 p.m., sponsored by Avaloch Farm Music Institute. The season will conclude on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by the country tribute band, “Here Come the Judds,” sponsored by Elektrisola.

The CCCA’s continued success is made possible by the generous support of numerous donors and corporate partners, including The Abbott Bennett Group, Bow Plumbing and Heating, Prescott Heating Oil & Propane, Elektrisola, Avaloch Farm Music Institute, Merrimack County Savings Bank, Milestone Engineering, Delta Dental, Twelve 31 Events, Walker Lecture Series, Quality Press, Shaw’s, The J.Henry Hanhisalo Charitable Trust and The Bagan Foundation.
