The winners of the critics’ awards are often among the candidates for the Oscars in March. A year ago, the association voted for “Tár” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” as top films, the latter later winning the Oscar for Best Film.

Along with Hülser, Emma Stone was also recognized for her leading role in “Poor Things.” In the lead role category, alongside Hülser, Emma Stone, ten years her junior, won for her performance in Giorgos Lanthimos’ fantasy film “Poor Things,” in which she plays a female version of Frankenstein. The best supporting actress awards went to Rachel McAdams for her performance in the film adaptation “Are You There God?” It’s Me, Margaret” by Judy Blume and to Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her performance in the tragicomedy “The Holdovers”. This year, all four acting prizes will be awarded to women. The association does not divide here according to gender categories.

On Saturday, Hülser had already won the European Film Award for Best Actress. The 45-year-old received the award for her role in “Anatomy of a Case”.
