Sometimes it’s the facade, gate, window shape, well-kept plants, a touch of color or other detail that attracts attention. Curiosity leads us straight to the entrance and it is after ringing the bell and clapping that everything begins.

From the gate you see yourself in the living room, kitchen, bedroom, walking through the garden while listening to stories about someone you met five minutes ago. It seems crazy, it is a little, but it is one of those good things that is only possible thanks to journalism, B side.

In 2023, we passed through several neighborhoods in Campo Grande, telling stories about many houses and most importantly: the people who live in them. Here I would like to say ‘thank you very much’ to every resident who opened the door so that the curious journalist could enter.

In 2024, or B side is ready to show more houses and those that make it a unique place. Send your suggestion whenever you want through our social networks and WhatsApp (67) 99669-9563. Remember some of those that marked 2023.

Chácara is a private paradise that Joanita and Davi have enjoyed for 22 years

Chácara Samambaia is the refuge that Joanita Ferreira, aged 64, and Davi Poles, aged 71, created within the city in the Maria Aparecida Pedrossian neighborhood. On a dead-end street, the gate colored by the tones of the Pantanal is the gateway to the couple’s private paradise.

22 years ago, they acquired the one and a half hectare area where they built the house in which they live in the company of two dogs, many chickens, ducks and other animals that visit the farm. The property is surrounded by huge Cerrado trees. They are scattered everywhere and were planted in place years before the couple dreamed of having the farm.

After admiring a rich man’s garden, Rose created a private paradise at home

The green of the house matches the flowery garden full of succulents, cacti and plants with curious names. In Bairro Caiobá II, Rose Rocha, 55 years old, took care of the backyard that awakens enchantment at first sight. The care and care are evident in each vase, arrangement and decoration that decorates the yard.

A manicurist and waxer, she is a gardener in her free time and whenever she has the opportunity, she dedicates time to plants. Creative, Rose uses different materials to create pots, vases and other supports for plants. In her hands, everything is put to good use, from broken glass jars to old kettles.

In the Vila Bandeira neighborhood, a house was built with bricks and wood. (Photo: Jéssica Fernandes)

Made in the family, the house has a rustic touch thanks to wood and bricks

Bricks and a lot of wood form the construction of the house that maintains a rustic atmosphere in the Vila Bandeirante neighborhood. The property was built by Sara Caterine Pockel Monteiro Harduin’s family 22 years ago, two years before she was born.

The medical student explains that more than one person in the family was involved in the construction of the residence. “My father and grandfather did the woodwork and our cousin designed it, we have a cousin who is an architect,” she says.

On a balcony, a doll watches over relics left by Sol’s great love

On the first floor, a doll’s head constantly stares at anyone passing by on the street. The bearded creature wears earrings and a hat and has been a watchman at the home of Solidea Stael Nonato Leite, 59, for six years. It attracts attention, scares, provokes curiosity, but it is still the least interesting part of the house located in the Jardim Panorama neighborhood.

At the door of the residence, Sol reveals the origin of the object that lives on the balcony. “He was my puppet at the barbershop, so I left him there to watch the house. My granddaughter put on makeup, earrings, even a hat”, he laughs. The resident is very friendly and after talking about the doll, she invites: ‘This is my viewpoint, do you want to go up? ”

House symbolizes peace for brothers who prefer to listen to the birds

Wooden gates and a high wall hide the house that preserves the stories of the couple who left behind three children. In the São Jorge da Lagoa neighborhood, the brothers Jorgina Alderete, 57 years old, Cláudio Alderete, 69 years old, and Irma Maria, 55 years old, live peaceful days in a home that looks like a small farm.

They and their parents Margarida Ramires Alderete and Salvio Alderete came from Porto Murtinho to Campo Grande in 2000. The house was built at the same time with angelim wood originating from Pará and when they arrived in the neighborhood the home was waiting.

House with sun became a reference for no one to get lost in the neighborhood

The sun is fading from the wall, but it still manages to attract attention in Bairro Piratinga. Next to him, resting in the shade, is the 1983 Beetle that shows authority through the phrase ‘Respect Grandpa’. The scene summarizes the facade of the home of the friendly couple José Fernando dos Santos, aged 72, and Izildinha Castelari Santos, aged 64.

Married for 46 years, the two are from Nova Andradina and have lived in the house in Campo Grande for 33 years. The sun came much later as a creative alternative to indicate the location of the house. Ilzinha is the one who shares this curiosity.

After building his own house, Alzemiro never stopped inventing fashion

In Bairro Caiçara, the light green and blue tones of the house contrast with stones and coverings that imitate clay bricks. The home conveys something different compared to others on the street. The construction clashes, it has the beauty of other times and it seems that everything lives in harmony there.

The property was the first brick building in which the couple Alzemiro Rufino de Matos, aged 80, and Zenilda Salles Rufino, aged 75, lived. Before that, they lived in the same neighborhood, but in a wooden house.

Window that resembles a ship hides colorful house that captivated Adriana

In the Tarumã neighborhood, the house doesn’t look like a house and at first it resembles an old ship. The impression is made thanks to the two circular windows and the wooden door that forms an ‘x’. The pink painted facade is interesting, but it is just one of the details that make up the unique appearance of the residence.

1 year ago, Adriana Jane Vicente, 49 years old, moved into the home with her 18-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter. When she was looking for a property to live with her family, the supermarket attendant was delighted to find the house.
