Over the past few years, fuel from underground storage facilities has been actively supplied to the US domestic market. This is how the authorities tried to combat the rise in prices of raw materials. As a result, about 40% of national reserves were pumped out, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

Currently, the US strategic oil reserve is at its lowest level in the last 30 years. Now in the election race, Joe Biden is seeking to make up for losses, the publication writes.

The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve is located in storage facilities in Louisiana and Texas. It was created in case of emergency situations.

In 2021, the volume of fuel in US storage facilities was more than 600 million barrels. According to the latest data, there are now only 362 million barrels left in them. When it became clear how depleted the reserves were, Biden’s ratings fell even further.

The US Department of Energy said it would restore reserves as soon as oil prices become acceptable. Analysts note that the country cannot survive without imports.
