The president of the United States, Joe Bidenreported that this Friday he contacted the Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaumfor congratulate her for being the first woman in assuming the Presidency of the Republic.
Through a message on the official account of the US presidency, Biden wrote that he hopes that collaboration between both nations will promote mutual security and prosperity.
“Today I spoke with President Sheinbaum to congratulate her on her historic inauguration as the first woman to serve as President of Mexico.
“I look forward to continuing this solid and collaborative partnership that will promote prosperity and security in both countries,” said the US president through the @POTUS account.
Jill Biden, wife of the president of the United States, attended Sheinbaum’s investiture ceremony, held on October 1 in the Chamber of Deputies.
In the balance of the American delegation published by the White House, it is detailed that the first lady was accompanied by the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar; the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra; the administrator of the Federal Small Business Development Agency (SBA), Isabel Casillas Guzmán; U.S. Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware; Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut; the federal representative of the 44th District of California and president of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Nanette Barragán; the deputy assistant to the president and social secretary of the White House, Carlos Elizondo; and the mayor of Tucson, Arizona, Regina Romero.
During the visit, Jill Biden spoke at a reception hosted by Ambassador Salazar, where she highlighted the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to strengthening the partnership between the United States and Mexico.
Together with Ambassador Salazar, he attended a dinner hosted by Sheinbaum the night before his inauguration and later they were present at a lunch in honor of President Sheinbaum.
Concluding their trip, Jill Biden and members of the Delegation visited the Frida Kahlo Museum to celebrate the cultural connections shared between the United States and Mexico.
