Jamui: The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, had constructed a biogas plant and grid two years ago in Donha village of Harla Panchayat of Lakshmipur block, 30 km from the district headquarters. The objective was that the villagers here would be able to taste the food made from biogas while improving their health in a pollution-free manner. To give concrete shape to this project in the month of July 2022, all types of equipment were installed here and it was made operational. After this, pipelines were laid with great difficulty to ensure that the biogas produced here reaches every home of the people living in the entire village.
No trace of pipeline now
For some days, biogas was also made by collecting cattle dung and urine from the homes of local people. It was delivered to people’s homes. It was inaugurated with full pomp and show. After this, people started feeling that now we will not have to spend any amount on fuel to prepare food. Administrative officials went door-to-door to inform people about the use of biogas and also requested that now there is no need for you to throw the dung of your cattle here and there.
Termites infest the project
Some people even got employment by collecting cow dung in the biogas plant and after preparing the biogas, the remaining residue reached people’s fields as fertilizer. This not only created hope among the people of the area that now we will plant all types of crops in our fields through organic method. But due to the inaction and negligence of the officials, this scheme built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh got ruined. The officials proved the utility of this scheme useless.

Providing the cost amount of this scheme was stopped. The amount of honorarium to the youth who took care of all types of equipment installed at this place was stopped. The most surprising thing is that no arrangements were made to take care of the precious equipment used in producing biogas. Due to which the machines here kept getting stolen. Villagers Sanoj Kumar, Dhirendra Kumar, Saurabh Kumar, Nitish Kumar, Arjun Yadav told that now this entire project has become ivory and is just a show.

Now the administration woke up
Whereas the truth is that the first biogas plant in the entire district was established in Donha village. But in the present times even that has become grounded. The purpose with which this project was established was that the people here could get food prepared using pure and clean methods, crops prepared from organic fertilizers and also get economic prosperity. But the official expectation put an end to this entire project and all the aspects related to it. District Magistrate Abhilasha Sharma said that after properly assessing this project, it will soon be revived by the district administration. This will ensure that appropriate steps are taken to achieve the actual goal of the project.
