Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Faces Disappointing European Launch, Trails Battlefield 6
A lackluster debut for the latest installment in the blockbuster franchise has raised concerns among industry analysts. Initial sales figures for Call of Duty: Black ops 7 in Europe are significantly below expectations, with opening week unit sales 63% lower than those achieved by Battlefield 6 in October.
The data, provided by GSD, which tracks both physical and digital sales across a broad range of European markets, also reveals that Black Ops 7 is down more than 50% compared to last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. While the GSD data excludes downloads through subscription services, the inclusion of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in the Game pass program suggests the actual player base is considerably larger than initial sales indicate.
Despite the disappointing figures, the game’s success, even at a reduced level, highlights the enduring power of the Call of Duty brand.
Trailing behind Call of Duty is Anno 117: Pax Romana from Ubisoft, which debuted in second place. The strategy title has reportedly sold 2.5 times more units at launch than its predecessor, 2019’s Anno 1800, demonstrating a strong appetite for the genre.
Other notable movements in the charts include a sharp decline for last week’s number one, Football Manager 26 from Sega, which fell to eleventh place. EA Sports FC 26 remains stable at number three, while Battlefield 6 slipped to fourth. Pokémon Legends: Z-A rounds out the top five.
