The “Blackberry Coalition” is taking shape in Thuringia. The CDU, BSW and SPD are said to have completed the explorations.
The CDU, the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) and the SPD have concluded their exploratory talks to form a state government in Thuringia. As the “Welt” reports with information from CDU circles, the division of the ministries has apparently already been clarified. Accordingly, the CDU should provide the Prime Minister.
According to an exploratory paper available to “Welt”, the CDU will also take over the ministries of education, economics and agriculture. The BSW receives the departments for finance, the environment and infrastructure as well as the ministry for labor, science, culture, universities and research. The SPD will be responsible for the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The results of the talks are to be officially announced on Friday. The decision on formal coalition negotiations now depends on the assessment of the committees of the three parties. In recent weeks, representatives have described the atmosphere at the negotiations as constructive.
According to the “Welt” report, there were also points of contention, particularly due to foreign policy demands from BSW boss Sahra Wagenknecht. The politician called for a commitment against US medium-range missiles in Germany, which led to debates within the CDU. An alliance of the CDU, BSW and SPD would be a novelty in Germany.
In Thuringia, the AfD recently won the state elections, while in Saxony it became the second strongest force. The state Office for the Protection of the Constitution classifies the party as right-wing extremist in both countries, which is why no other party is willing to form a coalition or work with it.
