Bloomberg: Apple is exploring the possibility of decentralized work

by time news

Apple’s top executives expect the company to reduce its dependence on Silicon Valley, where the company’s headquarters is located, in order to retain its workforce, Bloomberg reported, citing sources. According to the publication, Apple recruiters face difficulties in finding candidates with different backgrounds.

Bloomberg cites high operating costs and talent drainage associated with the high cost of living in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA, among the reasons Apple is considering a decentralized workforce. One proponent of Apple’s decentralization, according to Bloomberg, is senior vice president of hardware technology Johnny Sroogie and senior vice president of services Eddie Cue.

Apple, which has allowed employees to work remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic, will require them to be present in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in the fall. In June, The Verge published an internal letter from Apple employees asking them to let teams decide whether to work from the office or remotely.
