Libreville, December 20, 2023 – On the sidelines of his stay in the province of Haut Ogooué, where he visited the sites to host the issuance of the National Electronic Identity Card (CNIE), the Minister Delegate to the President of the Transition Mr. Hermann Immongault proceeded on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in Kabala, Gabon – Congo border, to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, with his Congolese counterpart Raymond Zéphirin Mboulou, Minister of the Interior, Decentralization and of Local Development.
This Agreement between the Government of the Gabonese Republic and the Government of the Republic of Congo relates to the construction of a cross-border service road linking Ekata in the department of Zadié (Ogooué-Ivindo) to Bekongo in the district of Mbomo , Olloba zone department of Cuvette Ouest (Congo), by the Gabonese company called Global Mine Development (GMD).
This road will allow the Global Mine Development Company to carry out mining exploration and exploitation operations on Gabonese territory; it will also constitute a strategic axis for the economic, social and cultural development of our two countries by facilitating exchanges
trade, migratory flows, tourism, scientific cooperation and environmental preservation.
In the delegations of the two Ministers, we noted the presence of border authorities on both sides, in particular the Governors of the provinces of Haut-Ogooué and Ogooué-Ivindo; the Prefects of Zadié and Plateaux, the Permanent Secretary of the National Border Commission for Gabon, the Prefect (equivalent to Governor) of the department of Cuvette – Ouest, the Sub-prefect (equivalent to Prefect) of the district of Mbomo and the General Directors of
territorial planning and regional integration for the Congo.
