When the referee whistled for the break, it was even 6-0. In the second half, the guests seemed to have pity on Borussia: They didn’t score another goal, it stayed 6-0.
The first Freiburg goal shot was in there. Maximilian Eggestein scored after just two minutes. Kevin Schade increased three minutes later, before Philipp Lienhart scored 3-0 (12th). Two headed goals later (Nicolas Höfler and Lucas Höler) it was already 5-0 for the guests.

Five goals conceded in 25 minutes – it was just embarrassing what Borussia offered. Adi Hütter’s team did not defend themselves against the hits and let the Freiburg team do it. The coach had enough after 29 minutes and replaced two players. But it didn’t get any better, Gladbach remained in a state of shock.

First of all, Borussia conceded five goals in the first half – in 1979 against Bayern the fifth goal was only conceded in the 45th minute, against Freiburg on Sunday in the 25th! In the 2014 World Cup semi-finals, Germany led Brazil 5-0 after 29 minutes – Freiburg was four minutes faster.
Gladbach conceded the first three goals in the first twelve minutes – this has never happened before for Borussia – Gladbach is playing his 1820th Bundesliga game against Freiburg. The debacle continued after the 5: 0, Nico Schlotterbeck increased to 6: 0. Half a dozen goals conceded in one half, never more.
And Freiburg? Christian Streich’s team also set a record. For the first time in its Bundesliga history, the sports club scored six goals in the first half. The 6: 0 also means the highest Bundesliga victory in the history of the club.
