Brian Cogan, the judge who will condemn García Luna and judge “El Mayo” Zambada

The judge Brian Coganholder of the Eastern District Court of Brooklyn, New Yorkwill be in charge of condemning Genaro García Luna and judge Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.

García Luna Case

Genaro García Luna, who served as Secretary of Public Security during the six-year term of Felipe Calderon was arrested in TexasUnited States in 2019, under charges of various crimes related to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Cogan will be responsible for passing sentence against the former Mexican official in the trial that ran from January 17 al February 21, 2023 upon being found guilty of 5 charges related to drug trafficking, and one for lying to the immigration authority of that nation.

Cogan will hand down a sentence against Felipe Calderón’s former right-wing commander on October 16 and 2 days later he will have “El Mayo” Zambada in the dock, accused of being the one who gave bribes to the former Mexican super police officer.
